- Composition: Our premium Belgorod chalk is made from almost 100% pure calcium carbonate. It consists mainly of calcite, a common component of sedimentary rock - especially limestone. Calcite is found in limestone, corals, shells and chalk. Depending on the geographical conditions in the area, 2-4% of chalk may consist of quartz or other minerals.
- Texture and shape: premium chalk from Belgorod is the perfect balance between earthy, velvety and slightly dusty. However, it also feels very smooth and almost creamy. It feels and looks almost malleable on the surface. Geologically speaking, it is quite soft. It can be broken by hand with little effort. The earthy feel of the chalk is very clean and flawless. It has a mild but characteristic smell, almost like fresh morning dew on a mountain meadow.
