Action & Adventure Editorial Review
**** The Blu-ray release of "Mr. Nice Guy" has garnered enthusiastic reception from fans of Jackie Chan and Hong Kong cinema. After years of enduring edited versions in the U.S., this release presents the extended International cut, which is longer than even the versions that previously circulated in Asia (except for Japan). The film has been meticulously remastered from a new 4K scan of the original negatives, promising stunning visuals. The Blu-ray features both the uncut original version and the shorter U.S. edit with a different score, making it a comprehensive package for fans. Viewers praise the film for its wholesome, lighthearted nature filled with laughter and well-executed martial arts choreography. It serves as a therapeutic escape, allowing audiences to enjoy the classic good vs. bad storyline without the burden of excessive violence. Notably, the film's portrayals of women in combat roles demonstrates a balance of classic tropes and empowerment. The sound quality, presented in 5.1 DTS-HD MA, is of decent caliber, with the inclusion of original scores enhancing the overall experience. While there are some complaints regarding the unavailability of subtitles for the ending song, most viewers feel that the overall package is more than worth the investment, especially given its nostalgic value. Overall, "Mr. Nice Guy" has been celebrated as an underrated classic, and the success of this Blu-ray release is a heartfelt call to action for further remastering of Jackie Chan's earlier works. **
