Audient Audio Interfaces Sono Editorial Review
The Audient Sono Guitar Recording Audio Interface has received mixed reviews from customers. Some reviewers noted that they had difficulty getting the plug-ins, while others noted that the guitar sound was not great and that the interface made fizzling and cracking sounds. However, one reviewer found it to be an excellent audio interface for recording in a home studio, especially for guitars, basses, and vocals, with clean and noiseless sound and variable sound and EQ options. The tube saturation also sounded good. Another reviewer praised the device's guitar sound, which could be warm, balanced, and mildly compressed for a good guitar preamp sound with a valve-like tone. The onboard DSP offered some fun arcade profiles of Two Notes, but the marketing of DSP capabilities was overblown, and the supplied profiles did not sound as authentic and dynamic as the Wall Of Sound computer profiles. However, the device had a great hardware design, rich software package, and a good price-performance ratio that made it practically unfathomable. The analog/digital combo interface, direct access to sound, and configurable parameters made it user-friendly and forgiving. Three additional inputs, optical digital interface, and Amp-Out jack further enhanced the device's capabilities, making it well-designed and engineered. One reviewer wished for some additional features such as MIDI, Bluetooth, iPad connection, and the Two Notes capabilities of Captor X. Another reviewer pointed out the potential glitch in M1 iPads that could cause some crackling noise on the device, but most devices work fine on older models. A user who often used the device for recording guitars and re-amplifying them noted the device's excellent sound quality but found it annoying that you could not record the dry/wet signal simultaneously. Overall, the Audient Sono received positive reception as an audio interface for guitarists and bassists, but there were issues with compatibility and sound quality that users experienced during their recording.
