Question:
What is the housing made of? Are they heavy duty enough for an off road vehicle?
Answer: The housing is made of anodized aluminum. They seem durable enough for off road. You would need to add a lock washer to keep vibration from loosening them. -
Question:
If you want to take the plate off after installation, do you have to unhook the wire and thread them back though? Or do the lights screw off separate
Answer: You would have to cut the wire to take it off so you can take the license plate off. What you can do is to notch a slot straight down in the license plate put a washer on the light side & back side. -
Question:
using for license bolts but only one will turn on? The other will work when held to the battery but not if it is hardwired to the rear.
Answer: Are they wiring in series or parallel? -

Is the housing made out of metal or plastic?
Answer: Metal. They look great and are bright. -
Question:
Is the thread long enough to secure a plate to a rear tailgate with a washer on each end?
Answer: The threads are only about an inch or so long. -
Question:
Do they actually secure the license plate?
Answer: They secure the plate really well. You would need to tighten them up with some pliers and use a drop of blue locktite to make sure they do not back off. -
Question:
How long is the thread?
Answer: The thread is 1/2 - 3/4 inches long, no problem with any mount. The wire is 18-20 inches long.
