Although it is quite large, it is much easier to carry than bigger options, such as the Sony 600mm and has great image stabilization. The image quality is sharp across the frame @ 100mm f5 and 400mm f6.3. However, this lens can struggle to find focus in heavy shaded areas on a sunny day and is limited in close-up magnification, making it not great for macro by itself, but it works well with a macro extension tube. Feedback from former professional photographers has also been positive, suggesting that this lens is suitable for those who don't want to pay premium prices for big-brand name lenses. ###
