The NAGAOKA JEWELTONE JT-80LB is a Japanese cartridge with a balanced, engaging sound, very good dynamics, and a right balance of low end. It requires 25-30 hours for break-in, but the bass is much nicer than the Grado red, and the highs are not as sharp. The mids are well coupled, and the soundstage is very good. The surface noise is less than expected, and it tracks extremely well for a cartridge in this price range. The cartridge is easy to set up and gets out of the way to present music. One reviewer bought it without any reference to the Nagaoka sound before or any reviews, and he finds it to be a pleasant cartridge that suits his tastes.
