Is it possible to use 4 x 4gb ram or is it better/only possible to use 2x8gb?
Answer: Yes you can use 4 x 4 gb memory, however if you plan on upgrading in the future, it would be wiser to use 2 x 8 gb. Two 8 gb sticks will eliminate the need to sell 2 or 4 sticks or ram depending on your upgrade. Also two sticks will generate less heat than 4 sticks. Another thing to consider is dual channel mode. The mb manual recommends that memory of the same capacity, brand, speed, and chips be used. -

Answer: Yeah, it should work just fine.
