Answer: I figured the turtle out. Turn the key to the right until it won’t turn no more. Hold it there and move the head to the left and pull up the lock mechanism. The first time is hard but will open. -

I love the design but I need a diameter width of at least 1 and 1/2 inches of the U to span ring handles of a cabinet. Which animal could accommodate?
