It is installed into a new wall and saves space. The premium hot iron storage area maximizes the space needed for your iron and creates an overall depth of 5 5/8″ on the right side of the shelf. The board should swivel but the nut needs to be loosened after installation. It is possible to have the door hinged on either side, and to surface mount onto a plaster wall. However, there were some small issues with the product, including rough laminated edges, a small gash in the door, and the lever on the rack falling off. The new design requires installation in between wall joists and can be bulky and require more work. Overall, this is a great product for those who have the space and are willing to go through the installation process.
