Answer: The actual buckle is fake. There is square hook type fastener attached to the side of the shoe. Just slip the strap under the hook. -

Would it be possible to cut the straps off without the shoes falling off? I need these shoes but without the straps!
Answer: After looking at my shoes carefully I would say it would be possible to cut off the straps without the shoe falling apart - as long as you did not cut through the stitches that hold the straps and shoes together. This can be done allowing a very very small amount of the shoe left but no one will notice once you have them on your feet. If they do - they are way too close for comfort. -
