While the height of the pole cannot be adjusted and there is no extension piece, the hook can hold heavy items such as wind chimes, hanging plant baskets, solar lights, and bird feeders. The bottom stake is wide but may require a wide flower pot if used on a terrace to hold a bird feeder. It is 60 inches tall after being sunk in the ground and measures 13 inches from the outside pole to the end of the hook. Squirrels can climb the pole but a pole baffle can deter them. Overall, these hooks are a great value for the price and come highly recommended by customers.
