Tramontina Machetes Editorial Review
The Tramontina Machete is a good quality product made in Brazil with sturdy build quality and good steel that holds an excellent edge. The full tang blade is very sturdy and the machete easily cuts through brush. The blade has a very slight flex to it so as to avoid breaking, but is so strong it can slice 1-2 inch saplings without any problem. It is excellent for clearing light to relatively heavy brush. While there have been some issues reported with the handle needing re-shaping and possibly being wiggly, the biggest issue was that the tip of the blade was not ground down properly on more than one occasion. Fortunately, this blade is inexpensive and with DIY care can perform very well. The handle may not be very ergonomic, but that is to be expected from a no-frills tool. The machete is liked by most customers and is a reliable, sturdy tool with good build quality. It is similar to the Ontario machete (which is slightly heavier for chopping heavy brush), but is better suited for limbs under 1 inch. Despite some minor issues, it performs better than many expensive brands out there and is worth the investment.
